Dorcas Casey has been shortlisted for Jerwood Makers Open 2014.
Now in its fourth year, Jerwood Makers Open offers applied artists in the early stages of their careers a unique opportunity to develop their creative ideas independently of specific commissioning structures. Open to UK residents within 10 years of graduating or setting up their practice, this opportunity will award five artists with bursaries of £7,500, allowing them to freely create new work. This resulting work will be exhibited at Jerwood Space, London next summer before touring the UK.
The five artists are to be selected by an independent panel comprising foremost figures in the world of applied art and design, including Vicky Richardson, Director of Architecture, Design and Fashion at the British Council; Junko Mori, artist and silversmith and Claire Catterall, Director of Exhibitions and Learning at Somerset House.
